The straw bale garden at Ridgely Senior Center grows and produces vegetables well into the fall. Just last week, senior center participants picked vegetables from the garden to be served with their noon congregate meal. The gentleman pictured, Mr. Mack, is a retired Veteran and a real Tennessee hero. Mr. Mack, a double amputee, recently joined the senior center. He said “I never thought I would ever be picking tomatoes from a garden again” due to recent surgery. But, through the senior center’s straw bale garden, he was able to pick cherry tomatoes last week!
