The Lauderdale County Exchange Club held its bi-monthly meeting on Thursday at the Carl Perkins Center. The speaker was Mary Stiles of the University of Tennessee Extension office. Ms. Stiles has been the Lauderdale County Liaison for the Community Coalitions for Change grant. The C3 grant is a health grant that is funded by the CDC to help lay the foundation for bringing down the obesity rate in Lauderdale County and has been in place for the past two years. This past year, the grant has provided funding to help with the three city gardens (Ripley, Halls and Henning), monies have been allocated to purchase equipment for Rice, Cleveland, Curve and Central parks that will be installed within the next year, purchased distance markers that are located all through the county on most walking trails and provided funding for several other items that promote a healthy lifestyle. For more information contact Ms. Stiles at 635-9551. Stiles, left, is pictured with the Exchange Club President Patrick Carson.
